The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) officially established a partnership with the SEAMEO Regional Center for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel (QITEP) in Mathematics through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday (04/16/2025) in the Dean's Office of FMIPA UNY.
The signing was conducted by the Dean of FMIPA UNY and the Director of SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics. This MoU is a strategic step in strengthening international networks and supporting the development of mathematics education quality in the Southeast Asian region. The scope of this cooperation includes the professional development of mathematics teachers, the implementation of international seminars and workshops, the exchange of knowledge and experience, and the strengthening of innovation in mathematics learning relevant to the needs of the 21st century.
In his speech, the Dean of FMIPA UNY said that this cooperation is expected to open up opportunities for collaboration in various forms, such as teacher training, curriculum development, joint research, and lecturer and student exchanges.
“Through this cooperation, we hope to jointly improve the capacity of mathematics education, not only in Indonesia but also in the region,” said Prof. Dr. Dadan Rosana, M.Si. in his speech.
Meanwhile, SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics welcomes this collaboration as part of its mission to improve the quality of educators and educational personnel in the field of mathematics. The signing of this MoU is part of FMIPA UNY's commitment to supporting campus internationalization programs and responding to global challenges in mathematics education. It is hoped that this collaboration will improve the quality of education and develop international cooperation at FMIPA UNY.
